Tri Hop 2016

On Monday, January 25th the ladies of the Phi Epsilon chapter of Delta Delta Delta hosted our second TriHOP, a late night pancake dinner held to support our national philanthropy- St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.

Around 7pm, members began to greet and check guests into our house on campus, where the event was held.

We cooked pancakes and sausage, poured orange juice and milk, served unlimited coffee and held a pancake eating contest at the end of the night. Of the 11 teams that competed, the men of Delta Tau Delta fraternity claimed the final victory in the boys division and the ladies of Phi Mu claimed the victory in the women's division.

Live music was provided by local musicians Connor Pitre and Cameron Cloud.

Katie Myers, former St. Jude patient and current Southern Miss student, spoke about her St. Jude story. Myers shared with us the blessing she and her brother, also a St. Jude patient, were able to experience as St. Jude patients over the past decade. She expressed her gratitude for the opportunities that St. Jude has given her and to all who make it possible for St. Jude to do what they do.

Phi Epsilon was able to spend the night showing our campus and Hattiesburg community about our passion for St. Jude.

This year's philanthropy chair, Gabbie Munn, worked for weeks in advance to ensure everything went smoothly and was thrilled with the results.

"TriHOP was really a whirlwind for me. All my anxiety about the preparation dissolved as the first pancake was flipped. Our chapter came together and worked as a well-oiled machine to serve everyone who came out. To see the Greek community, Southern Miss community and Hattiesburg community unite to support St. Jude was an incredible feeling. The kids appreciate is more than they will ever know," said Munn.

Over the course of the evening, we welcomed over 1,000 guests and raised over $6,000. We could not be more thankful to everyone who participated, including every local business that generously contributed to make TriHOP possible.
